Sounds from the Sea Edge | a remote corner an exploration of rock pools in Priest’s Cove, Cape Cornwall

A two week escape from the world of work and responsibilities to explore life in a different place.

At the most westerly dwelling in England, lies a converted boiler house. It is an upside down abode with bedrooms downstairs and the main studio upstairs. Out of every window in the studio you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of  the sea. It is very much like being in a boat. And as the wind and rain lash at the windows in January the waves roll in you can even begin to feel a little sea sick....

Cornwall in January is unlike Manchester in so many ways. Clear night skies, heritage daffodils lining the hedgerows chucked there during the wars when daffodil growers were forced to turn their hands to growing edible crops. Fresh air and open ocean all create a different setting to refresh and renew.

The work that I have developed in these two residencies has served to inspire and inject my practice which I then bring home and integrate into my community projects.
